Speed of Paradise
From LeoWiki
The cherry tree's short silhouette
- Inlines the harebrained sky
Its spilt dull red of last year's wine
- A portent of a thund'rous morn
The day grows close; the dusk arises
- The crescent moon just flashes by
A shaky laundry bag of rain
- Whips up the gloomy earthen sod
But clouds, they pale; the jetstream billows
- The shadows dance beneath the sun
The greening trees befriend the sky
- And shade the rustling underbrush
A lazy river stands still in summer
- The cherry tree upon its coast
The water is peach in rays of dawn
- Then azure, tan; then maple syrup
Twin maple seeds converge on it
- A parting carpet from upstream
Some draw submerged ever so slowly
- And hide 'neath gurgling jam of peach
Others drift far beneath the willows
- And coat the curling water's edge
Some bushy bison wander near
- They drink and make the debris twirl
The sea's insane, raving, wild
- A thousand waveforms locked alight
A hundred leagues away it frothes
- As birds fly, pterodactyls too
But jam's no swallow, bat, or mammal
- It runs as fast as paradise
Eternal, clever, comfortable
- Through groves and fields and wild brush
